SLA R290 Heat Pump - Automatic System Reset of Heat Pump Water Heater

Article 1 - Automatic system reset of SLA R290 Heat Pump Water Heater

Possible customer inquiry

Customer experiences the set temperature automatically reverts to 50°C and enabling “Heat Pump Mode (Eco Mode)” after 24 hours if the set temperature is adjusted above 50°C or Fast Heating Mode is enabled.

Reason

Automatic resetting to the default set temperature and operation mode is a normal process of the new R290 heat pump models to achieve maximum energy savings possible. This ensures the unit does not run on higher power-consuming modes with higher set temperatures for more than a day. Please read the Notes under clause 5.3.2 in SLA Installation and User Manual to know about this default setting.

The automatic reset to default energy savings settings does not affect the usual supply of hot water. Since the tempering valve is set between 40°C to 50°C, the outlet water temperature at user’s end will remain between 40°C to 50°C. Increasing set temperature above 50°C does not increase supply-end outlet water temperature. This is made according to compliance set by the Australian safety standards for hot water systems.

Resolution

In case of urgent hot water supply, Fast-Heating Mode (Hybrid Mode) can be selected with a set temperature up to 70°C. This setting will persist for 24 hours.
