SLA Heat Pump – Repairing Tempering Valve
Possible reasons
-Up-down movement gap of piston is blocked by sand
-End surface of the top plug nut was blocked by sand.
-Tempering valve is faulty
Checking and testing steps
Step 1 (Onsite - Should be done by a technician): Clean and reassemble the tempering valve according to the following procedure,
a. Cleaning the tempering valve
i. Disassemble the tempering valve.
ii. Clean sand from the inner cavity, the gap for up-down movement of the piston and upper nut
iii. Reassemble the tempering valve.
b. Adjusting the temperature
i. Remove the screw, the plastic protective cap and locknut on top of the valve.
ii. The adjusting screw should be rotated clockwise to reduce the temperature, and counterclockwise to increase the temperature until the desired set point is reached. [Picture 2 and 3]
iii. A thermometer must be used to ensure that the correct mixed water temperature is achieved.
Step 2 (Onsite - Should be done by a technician): Check the water temperature after readjusting the tempering valve.
i. If proper water temperature is ensured, the issue has been resolved
ii. If the water temperature is unsuitable, the tempering valve appears to be faulty and should be replaced under product warranty.
Resolution
a. Repair the tempering valve by cleaning and readjusting [Step 1]
b. Replace the faulty tempering valve under product warranty. [step 2(ii)]
Documents required to service the warranty:
1. Video/picture covering following details -
i. Serial number of the existing heat pump unit
ii. All plumbing and electrical connections
iii. A video showing the reported issue/fault.
2. Date of installation of the current heat pump water heater.
3. Serial number of the new heat pump unit if replaced.
4. Date of replacing the faulty heat pump unit.
